The Lucky Horseshoe - Saturday 19th September 2026 - Suffolk Running Centre

The Lucky Horseshoe saw a strong turnout across all distances, from the 5k through to the Ultra Marathon, with several standout performances and three new course records being set.
Course Records
Four athletes established new course records:
Rhys Henry in the 5k with 22:02.
Sara Elphick in the 5k with 29:12.
Robert Dawson in the Heavy Half Marathon with 2:54:32.
Alex Marshall in the Ultra Marathon with 5:00:25.
5k
The shortest distance attracted 19 runners. Rhys Henry produced a dominant performance to win in a course record 22:02. The women's race was won by Sara Elphick in 29:12.
10k
A competitive field of 33 runners took on the 10k course. Henry Edwards led from the front to secure victory in 41:21. The women's winner was Derya Sahin, who crossed the line seventh overall in 55:49.
Half Marathon
The half marathon drew 34 finishers. Grant Grego claimed victory in 1:44:50, Ai Okano was the first female finisher, placing third overall with an impressive 1:58:19.
Heavy Half Marathon
The unique Heavy Half Marathon, combining the half marathon and 10k distances, had two finishers. Robert Dawson set a new course record of 2:54:32. Christine Hilcenko completed the event in 4:25:48.
Full Marathon
Twenty-four runners completed the marathon. Kirsty Landles delivered an outstanding performance to win outright and become the first female finisher in 4:06:11. She was followed by Lee Ramsay (4:11:32).
Ultra Marathon
The Ultra Marathon featured 10 finishers. Alex Marshall produced the performance of the day, winning the event and setting a new course record of 5:00:25. Wayne Avery finished second in 5:41:53
Event Highlights
122 finishers completed events across all distances.
Four new course records were set in the 5k, Heavy Half Marathon and Ultra Marathon.
The event showcased competitors across six distances, highlighting the inclusive nature of the Lucky Horseshoe Event.
The 122 finishers covered an incredible 2,739.4 kilometres throughout the day, enough to run from London to almost Athens, crossing the length of Europe and showcasing the remarkable endurance of everyone who took part
